On 2015’s Wake Up, The Vamps outgrew the “boy band” tag by draping robust pop-rock hooks in the sparkle and thump of dance music. Now, they journey deeper into club land on this first instalment of a planned two-part album. Norwegian DJ/producer Matoma adds a thrilling dubstep lurch to “All Night”, tropical house maestro Mike Perry brings the heat to “Hands”, and pop urgency fuses with lithe disco beats on “Shades On”. Even at their most unadorned, on the acoustic “Stay”, the quartet still conjure an engaging melody.
